Character Development Curriculum
Care*ageous Kids™ is an evidence-informed character development curriculum written by Dr. Thea. She has developed the train-the-trainer component for professionals and para-professionals in school, community, and faith-based settings. Care*ageous Kids™ is designed to assist children in a fun and age-appropriate manner with developing positive social skills that will help them succeed as students and citizens.
The overarching theme and tagline of Care*ageous Kids™ is “Smart kids have a mind that courageous and kind.” The curriculum is designed for 4th and 5th grade students. The information focuses on evidence-informed positive character development messages.
Care*ageous Kids™ differentiates itself from other curricula in the central role for the parents to play in the character development. The parental/guardian handouts are different from others in that:
- The children are empowered to present the information they learned in class to the parents. The children are the teachers of the lesson. This encourages the children to take ownership of the material.
- Parental input and guidance is solicited and encouraged. Parents/guardians want to be the ones guiding the values’ development of their children. Care*ageous Kids™ honors the parents’ role in values’ development. The program gets the parents involved and has the parents taking the lead in the development of communication strategies, values, and household rules.
Care*ageous Kids™ consists of 4 focus areas with 3 modules in each focus area.
